Grapefruit is perfectly combined with tequila and now that 3 Cents Grapefruit Soda is so widely available there is a cocktail taking place in cocktail menus more than ever. The Paloma!
If there’s a spirit that one can say has terroir, it’s definitely tequila. Try doing a blind tasting between different brands and I bet you ‘ll feel like drinking different spirits. And, in my opinion, the same rule applies to grapefruit sodas. Grapefruit is perfectly combined with tequila, or at least better than any other citrus fruit. Maybe that explains why Mexicans prefer Palomas than Margaritas. A traditional Paloma is made with specific grapefruit sodas such as Squirt, Ting or Fresca. Now that 3 Cents Grapefruit Soda is available in Greece (and abroad), Paloma cocktail is starting to take place in cocktail menus more than ever. Grab a bottle of this wonderfully crafted beverage and make yourself a Paloma cocktail, following the recibe below:
- 60 ml reposado tequila (100% agave)
- 15 ml fresh lime juice
- 90 ml 3 Cents Grapefruit Soda
Build in a Collins glass filled with cubed ice. Optionally, the glass could be half salt-rimmed. Garnish with a half a grapefruit wheel or grapefruit horse’s neck (or just a peel from the squeezed lime).
