Metaxa was created on 1888 by Spyros Metaxas. It is a greek spirit, famous globally about its uniqueness.
Metaxa is the result from the blending of 3 special ingredients:
- Distillate (2 times in a pot still). Before the distillation it was a magnificent wine from 3 excellent varieties: Savatiano, Soultanina and Koritnthiakos. After the distillation, it is being aged in french limousine oak barrels for 3 to 30 years, depending on the Metaxa product in which it is going to be blended.
- Aged muscat wine from the Greek islands of Samos and Limnos.
- A secret recipe according to wich a liquid is being infused with herbs and rose petals.
The final blend goes back in oak barrels for one more year, at least, and then it is being chilled filtered. Now, you know more things about the bottle that is available in almost every big liquor store in the world.
