Last Word, is a real reviver. It is a cocktail that every gin lover should try at least once and every bartender owes to be aware of. Here, the botanicals that come out of the gin, work in with the herbacity which characterizes the Green Chartreuse. Chartreuse is a herbal liquer from France with 55% alcohol by volume! It really boosts this wonderful concoction while the fresh lime juice helps washing out your mouth with its nice sourness. Last Word plays nice with any gin brand, but in my belief it worths trying it with an alternative one, like Martin Millers or Citadelle. The drink was invented by Frank Fogarty almost a hundred years ago. Today, Last Word is being appreciated by many gin connoisseurs. Here is what the recipe calls for:
- 25 ml London Dry Gin
- 25 ml Luxardo Maraschino liquer
- 25 ml Green Chartreuse
- 25 ml fresh lime juice
Pour all the liquids into a mixing glass. Add lots of ice. Shake vigorously and double strain into a chilled cocktail or coupe glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry or a lime wheel.
