Gather with friends for hot drinks? Hot GroundApple is another simple cocktail, which can be served hot and it is sure to make everything better…
Chamomile is widely used as a painkiller, stress reliever and it is appreciated throughout the world due to its antiseptic, antibiotic and other health benefits. Chamomile is Greek for ground apple and since it is a nice pairing to elderflower syrup, I thought that it would be very interesting to use it as an ingredient in the Hot GroundApple cocktail. I have used Bloom gin as the base spirit since it is a well-balanced London Dry Gin of seven botanicals (: Juniper, Coriander, Angelica, Cubeb Berries, Chamomile, Honeysuckle and Pomelo), which works interestingly well with honey and the smooth floral characteristics of chamomile. Here is my recipe:
Hot GroundApple
- 45 ml Bloom premium London Dry Gin
- 2 dashes Amargo Chuncho bitters
- 120 ml hot chamomile tea
- 2 tsp honey
- grated nutmeg
Serve the chamomile in a tempered glass mug (which will be able to withstand the high temperature), add honey and stir gently. Add chuncho bitters and gin and stir again.Garnish with some grated nutmeg on top and a nice lemon wheel. Enjoy and get warm!
