Division Bell, may sounds familiar as a phrase, because of Pink Floyd’s amazing music album. But, as a cocktail Division Bell is really… huh… let’s say unconventional. I was reading gaz’s regan Annual Manual for Bartenders 2011, when I came across the recipe for Division Bell. Gary’s comments for this cocktail were clear and simple: “The balance is perfect, every ingredient plays a discernible role, and the grapefruit twist caps it off beautifully”. The recipe was sent (to gaz regan) by Philip Ward, from Mayahuel bar in New York City. Follow the steps:
- 30 ml Del Maguey Mezcal
- 22.5 ml Aperol
- 15 ml Luxardo maraschino liqueur
- 22.5 ml fresh lime juice
Add all the ingredients into shaker. Shake over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Squeeze the grapefruit twist over the drink, then discard. Mezcal plays he biggest role in this nicely created concoction, while Aperol keeps the balance at the right level. Try it!
